Monmouthshire groundskeeper Roger Skip uses a 4.7m PA4745 machine to maintain the land around a local estate.

Roger Skip drew up a simple wish list when he began the search for a new Power Arm.

He wanted a machine that was easy to use, reliable, and good value for money. It had to be equally effective at cutting grass and hedgerows and it had to be compatible with a low horsepower tractor.

The solution he chose was McConnel’s PA4745 – the Shropshire company’s most cost-effective mid-range machine.

Packing a punch with high-performance 45hp hydraulics, the PA4745 offers 4.7m reach, as well as advanced features to improve precision such as lift and angle float kits and parallel arm geometry.

A cushioned top link and a safety breakaway system enhance the durability of the machine, while attachments such as a Cutterbar, Rotary Head and Multisaw expand the range of services operators can offer.

Roger sees the machine as ideal for managing the hedgerows, lanes and verges around the estate.

He said: "The PA4745 has been a very good purchase because it’s easy to master and the performance is excellent. The flailhead is powerful enough to tackle the hedges on the estate and leaves behind a neat and attractive finish."

Hand-built in the UK at McConnel’s Ludlow production facility, the PA4745 is built to the UK’s ISO9002 standard of quality and is created by components crafted in-house specifically for McConnel machines.

That commitment to quality is essential for Roger who wants a machine he can count on for a consistent and reliable performance.

He said: "When you buy a McConnel Power Arm you know you’re buying quality. It might not be the top of the range machine but the PA4745 is well-built and extremely effective.

"It’s ideal for grounds-keepers and farmers who want to keep their estates looking neat and tidy."
