One of McConnel’s longest-service employees has said goodbye after a 42-year career with the company.
Cost accountant Doug Jackson joined the company back in 1974 and played a key role in the automation of the company’s financial operations, inventory management and ordering processes.
Doug said: “I have really enjoyed my career with McConnel and have been lucky to work alongside some very special people. One of the hardest things for me is saying goodbye to my colleagues and friends in the company.”
An expert in the history of the motorcycle, Doug was a regular contributor to specialist newspapers and magazines on bikes and his vast collection of photographs and extensive knowledge of even the most diverse marques earned him the respect of industry insiders and even world racing champions.
He plans to spend his retirement devoting more time to his love of bikes and to finally cataloguing his huge collection of memorabilia.
