McConnel serves up a classic at the Royal Welsh Show header image

From the world’s first to the world’s best - McConnel has put on a machinery master-class at the Royal Welsh Show – attracting the attention of thousands of visitors with a vision of the future and a blast from the past.

A wide range of advanced green maintenance technology was showcased alongside the machine that kick-started McConnel’s early success – the 1948 Mid Mount Mark 1 – the first-ever tractor-mounted hedgecutter. (See below)

The vintage machine, which was mounted on an authentic pre-war Fordson tractor, proved a huge draw in attracting show-goers to the stand, and served as the perfect complement to McConnel’s latest generation of innovative machines, which included:

  • The Seedaerator low disturbance seed drill
  • ROBOCUT
  • A Grassland Shakaerator
  • A Discaerator 3000
  • An SR460 rotary mower
  • A Magnum Euro Open flail mower
  • A PA5455
  • A PA6565T
  • And a PA6570T

McConnel’s UK sales manager Jon Webb said: “The MidMount Mark 1 is a classic machine which always proves popular at shows. It attracted a lot of people to the stand and that helped us generate a lot of interest in the latest range of modern machines”

The Show, which was held between 21-24 July at Built Wells, Powys, attracted close to a quarter of a million visitors
