Perfect finish is just the job for Elaine

Based in Running Waters, County Durham, Elaine Vickers is a busy farmer looking after more than 1,000 acres of arable and livestock. She wanted a Power Arm that was productive and powerful while still being precise and manoeuvrable so she chose a McConnel PA6065.

One of the most important factors for Elaine was cut quality. She specified a 1.2m Multicut flailhead with F10 flails and loves the fine finish it delivers.

Elaine explained: ‘An attractive cut is really important to me. I hate to see a job done badly so I really like the machine because it’s so precise and it gives a very good finish. The joystick controls are very responsive and operator friendly so it makes it a lot easier to do a really good job.”

Because some of the farm’s hedges are lined with banks and small ditches, Elaine wanted to upgrade her old PA5155 model for the longer reach of the PA6065. The machine also offers more powerful 65hp hydraulics and heavy-duty build quality.

She said: “A 6.0m machine is ideal for me because there’s nothing I can’t reach with it. It’s ideal for this farm.”

Because of her busy workload, Elaine was keen to find a machine that could be attached or removed quickly and easily – choosing McConnel’s quick attachment brackets. This allows her to take the PA6065 off the tractor in less than 10 minutes freeing it up for other jobs.

Elaine said: “It’s dead easy to put on and take off, and it’s a great all-round machine. I’ve never had any trouble with it – or the PA5155 I had before - it’s a great tool for the job.”

Elaine purchased the machine from nearby dealer Rickerby Ltd and says the advice and support she receives from the team at her local Bowburn dealership and McConnel territory sales manager Ian Lax is second to none.

So would she recommend the PA6065 to others?

‘Definitely,” she said. “I’ve been a McConnel customer for seven years and I wouldn’t have anything else!”
