Following in the trail of Sir Bradley Wiggins, McConnel welder Noll Farmer is gearing up to take on the famous London Olympics road race course in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Noll will join around 25,000 fellow riders for a 100-mile cycle challenge which begins at Olympic Park then travels through the streets of London into the surrey countryside before returning to the capital for a grandstand finish along the Mall.
While Noll is not expecting to crack the top 5000, he does hope to strike gold for the Alzheimer’s charity, raising valuable funds for research into the disease.
He said: “I got into cycling to keep fit so I never thought I’d ever be competing in an event which would attract some of the top riders along the Olympic course.
“It will be a wonderful experience and I hope to make it even more memorable by collecting a lot of money for a very worthy cause.”
The event takes place on Sunday 2 August 2015. If you would like to sponsor Noll you can contact him via email at: nollfarmer@hotmail.com
